Position Objectives:
Under immediate supervision, monitors activities in the water, pool decks, and ancillary areas of aquatics facilities to ensure the safety of patrons; learns, explains, and enforces safe swimming programs and pool policies, regulations, and rules. Performs rescues and administers first aid, CPR, and AED as needed; and performs related work as required.Duties and Responsibilities:
- Enforces all aquatic facility policies, procedures, and rules.
- Recognizes and responds effectively to emergencies.
- Participates in in-service training.
- Completes records and reports.
- Takes daily attendance fees and admits patrons into facility.
- Cleans facility and responsible for general maintenance.
- Assists in bathhouse during rotation.
- Records hours worked daily on timesheet.
- Gives swimming lessons to young children.
- Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Must be at least 15 years of age.
- American Red Cross Lifeguard/First Aid/CPR/AED
- Ability to act in a decisive manner using good judgment.
- Be able to assess problems, situations, and anticipate needs and evaluate alternatives.
- Ability to maintain pool in a safe manner.
- Thorough knowledge and application of lifeguarding surveillance and rescue techniques.
- Public Relations skills and ability to work as a team.
