Rebels Lose Close Game to Pirates

April 15, 2008

The DGF Rebels fought a tough wind as well as a tough Crookston Pirates baseball team Monday. The Rebels lost 7-6 at Jim Karn Field in Crookston starting the season off with a loss.

The Pirates took an early lead with four runs in the bottom of the first inning.

The Rebels came back at the top of the third inning when Michael Nelson grounded to second with the bases loaded allowing a run to score.

The Pirates answered that run in the bottom of the third when Matt Grove batted in a run with a hit that dropped into center field.

Tyler Tiniemi connected with an 0-1 pitch at the top of the fifth inning. Tiniemi hit the monster three run homer over the left field fence to cut the deficit to 2.

Tiniemi came back at the top of the sixth inning as well, with an RBI single by third base making the game 6-5.

DGF rallied at the top of the 7th inning as well, putting two runners on base with two outs. A high pop fly toward center was made even more exciting with the strong winds, but Pirates center-fielder Brady Langlois was able to track it down to end the game.

Got something to say?
