DGF defeats No. 1 ranked Jordan

St. Paul, MN - DGF came back from a 2-1 deficit to beat Jordan who was ranked number one in the state all year. The battle of the number one and number two ranked Class 2A teams ended after five games 23-25, 25-23, 23-25, 25-22 and 15-9 last night at the Xcel Energy Center.

Coach Jean Lopez was both relieved and ecstatic after the game. The coach was hoping the Rebels could stay close to the Jaguars and come out with the win in the end.

Jennifer Lopez led the Rebels with 33 kills, 28 digs, five aces, 15 assists and three blocks, followed by Jenna Green with 15 kills and seven blocks.

DGF only lost two games all season, but found themselves down two games to one after the third match. The rebels looked good in game three up 21-17, but they lost the momentum and Jordan rallied to a 25-23 victory.

Sara Anderson had one big kill in game four to end a long Jaguar rally, and the Rebels ended up forcing a game five. Anderson finished the game with three kills.

The Jaguars sttruggled in the fourth and fifth games servering. Jordan ended the night with 14 service errors with six of them coming in games four and five. The service errors killed any momentum they had at the time.

DGF continues with the hardest road to the finals as they are slated to play St. Cloud Cathedral in the state semifinals. The Crusaders were ranked the number three team in the state at the end of the season.
